Winter. Michigan. What Do You Do?

Michigan Winter. If you live in Michigan, it pretty much speaks for itself.  Good news: We’re about half-way through now.  Bad news: We’re about half-way through now.

DIA - Detroit Institute of Arts (7 of 4)About this time everyone is running out of ideas. If you have kids, you might have just squeaked through the holiday season with enough things to keep them entertained. Alas, you still have at least 6 more weeks, and weekends (and school ‘professional’ days) yet to survive.

Here’s a great suggestion: Consider taking your posse down to the Detroit Institute of Arts.  The DIA has a ton of things to keep everyone’s attention. If you’re a resident of Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb Counties, entry is free.  Even if you have to pay, it’s not that expensive.DIA - Detroit Institute of Arts (8 of 4)

What you will find are seemingly endless galleries of marvels. Things that make you wonder, “How’d they…?” And, of course, there are a number of displays to help you understand.  I took my kids. We cruised right through 3 hours without ever leaving the lower level. We spent the last hour we had breezing through another chunk. The kids? Loved it, want to go back!

So consider the DIA. Perhaps another museum or attraction. See if you can take your camera; some venues allow them, some don’t, most won’t allow a tripod.
